Aloe Blacc Review

Aloe Blacc - Good Things
Not just you're new favourite TV Show's theme music.

If you don't like this record, you probably don't like soul music. Actually, you probably don't have a soul. You must hate puppies and never swerve for old people. However, for those of us who actually enjoy smiling, this record is an important contribution to modern music. Stylistically it is the perfect compliment to groups like WAR and Black Merda. It's foundation lays in heavy gospel chords and drum breaks that sound like they were played by Mr Bernard Purdie himself. Lyrically the record is an introspective journey into Aloe's struggle. Songs like 'Life So Hard' and 'Miss Fortune' reflect more about the current climate of the global economy than CNN ever could and bankruptcy has never looked so attractive as it does on 'I Need A Dollar'. The highlight of the album however is undoubtedly 'Mama Hold My Hand'. If that song doesn't make you cry you must be reptilian. Now go ring your Mum.
